Laura LubbersAn action-oriented, highly collaborative neuroscientist and in vivo pharmacologist, Dr. Lubbers brings more than 20 years of experience to her role at CURE. She has led research projects and developed novel chemical entities to counter the effects of stroke, ALS, Alzheimer's Disease and Parkinson's Disease, while expanding her expertise to other therapeutic areas with critical unmet medical needs such as oncology and infectious diseases.

Dr. Lubbers' most recent position was Director of Pharmacology and team lead of in vivo pharmacology for Merck Research Laboratories in West Point, PA. Since 2008 Dr. Lubbers has been involved with the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance (TSA) serving as a board member, and as their board chair in 2015. She played a key role in advocating for research funding at the federal level, making annual visits to Capitol Hill and establishing strong relationships with Congressional and Senate offices. Her breadth of scientific experience has given her a thorough understanding of the drug discovery and development process and has deepened her commitment to improving human health. One strong area of interest for Dr. Lubbers is in the translation of science to therapy and ultimately a cure, which was a strong motivator for her interest in the CSO role.

Dr. Lubbers holds a Bachelor of Science in Physiology, a Master of Science in Veterinary Medical Sciences (Physiology), and a PhD in Veterinary Medical Sciences (Physiology) from The University of Illinois, Urbana.
