Sneak Peek at 2013
I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful holiday season—-once again, all of us at CURE send you very best wishes for a happy and healthy new year!
We are so excited to be kicking off 2013 with some really exciting activities. We’ll be gathered in Washington, D.C. next week, sequestered around a conference table with our Scientific team, key international advisors and a team of scientists prepared to define and refine our brand new Infantile Spasms Research Initiative.
Letters of Intent for our next round of research grants in SUDEP, Pediatrics and Acquired Epilepsy are due January 22nd—we’re looking forward to seeing some fabulous ideas come through, and know that many of you are there are working away on yours right now! Please help us spread the word: http://www.cureepilepsy.org/research/apply.asp
CURE is thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. HHMI’s Medical Research Fellows Program aims to increase the pool of future physician-scientists by immersing medical students in full-time research early in their medical education, before they make plans for their residency training. The program attracts the highest caliber medical student applicants nationally. CURE and HHMI will work in conjunction to develop the next generation of physician-scientists in the area of epilepsy research. We are very excited about this opportunity and the bright new minds it brings!
I’ll report back on all of this, but want just want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your incredible support last year. You were a part of a record-breaking year, and without you, we couldn’t be embarking on these projects now. The fundraisers and receptions you attended, the mustache-shaving you supported, your donations of money, time and expertise, your words of support and encouragement for our mission—it is all essential to moving our agenda forward, and we are deeply grateful.
