It’s All About the Science!
In between all the amazing activities taking place at CURE these last few weeks, we snuck in four days in San Diego, where the annual meeting of the American Epilepsy Society took place. A record number of attendees gathered… more than 4000 researchers, patients, advocates, clinicians and other health care providers. All of them focused on what they can do to help people with epilepsy and their families.
I was invited to speak at the Presidential Symposium on the Institute of Medicine Report released earlier this year, along with such stars as Frances Jensen (AES President, and Chair of Neurology at U Penn), Story Landis (Director, NINDS), Joe Sirven (IOM Committee Member), and the Assistant Secretary of Health, Howard Koh. If you’re interested and have time, the recording will be on the AES page. The excitement about the new Report was palpable.
It was wonderful to see and spend time with CURE Board Members from all over the country and catch up with many of our grantees. We squeezed in a Board Meeting, and a filled-to-capacity CURE Reception at which we announced our latest round of grantees (stay tuned to read all about them on our website soon!)
Check out the pictures below for just a few snapshots of the energy and great folks who were there!
The REAL last day of Slash the ‘Stache is fast approaching…don’t forget to tune into Morning Joe Friday at 7am!
