The One Week Countdown, and More!
Hard to believe that one week from today we’ll be gathered in the grand ballroom of Chicago’s Navy Pier, celebrating friends and supporters of this cause, and listening to a performance by Carole King, no less! If you haven’t purchased your tickets yet, you have just a few days left. You can get them here.
There’s really been a stir around town about the event, which is so exciting for us to see. We’ve had tremendous exposure:
- My husband David was interviewed on Chicago’s NPR station, WBEZ yesterday–all about CURE! You can read and listen here.
- Michigan Avenue Magazine interviewed me about Lauren, CURE, and the Upcoming Benefit. It’s on newsstands. You can also read it in their digital magazine–just skip to page 70.
- In case you didn’t read it before, our Dinner Chair Bill Daley was interviewed in the Sun-Times about the benefit!
While everyone at CURE has been working feverishly to make this our best event ever, I took a little break in Washington, along with Board member Connie Milstein and CURE friend Tammy Haddad, we hosted a Book Party for Mark Shriver, who just wrote a moving memoir of his father, Sargent Shriver, called “A Good Man.” The contributions of the Shriver family to supporting and embracing people with disabilities in this country and beyond, are enormous. And Mark writes so movingly about looking back on his father’s life, their relationship, and his father’s journey navigating Alzheimer’s Disease. Definitely a must read.
Last for today, but most certainly not least, our friend David Fradkin’s S4 event is tomorrow! We know he’s going to be fantastically successful in his first year, and we are looking forward to sharing pictures and stories next week! His online auction is already up and running–terrific ideas there for Father’s Day gifts that also will benefit CURE. Please help spread the word!
